Can 1000 Watts of stereo Damage a Stock Alternator?

My first alternator when I bought my vehicle started to make ticking sounds with RPM that I could hear really loudly from in the cab. My new one, it is just a stock replacement I think it didn't say how many amps and the store didn't know how many but I needed a new one to get to work fast so I took it. I am not sure but I am thinking it is making a ticking sound just not as loud(Cant hear it from the cab but I can standing next to the closed hood) did I possibly brake this alternator?
