One W6 should hit pretty nice. I'd do ported. It won't affect the SQ much and will get a little louder. I'm getting a single 13W6 in ported enclosure installed next week.
In terms of extension and impact, it scored a 9 out of 10 on CA&E review of it (12W6) as well as just about all the other categories. Awesome all around subwoofer (SQ and loud combined)

As far as sounding good, w6's are awesome. My buddy has one in a sealed box and it's very accurate. However, they have very little output. CA&E reviews are biased. Don't you think they'll say good things about those who advertise with them?

When you say very little output...little relative to what? I've heard them and they have more out put than W3's....and those things got pretty loud running off my old 500/1. Loud enough to vibrate everything in my blazer and register 144db's on the floor turned all the way up. To me that's loud. If that's not loud to you, then I can see where the "little output" label can come from.

You can get much higher scores with other subs, hence why I consider them not a loud sub. The tradeoff (and purpose) is for them to have excellent sound quaily, which they do.

I see. Understand perfectly. So it's not that their not loud, just not loud in comparison to other subs. And I agree. There are other that will not only get louder, but much more so.

I have been debating on single w7 or w6 and have decided on a single 13w6 let me know how you like it, Im hoping the single w6 gets pretty loud....I was thinking about the w7 but have heard the w6 can get close to as loud with the same power and sound better...

that's the thing about car audio loudness and sq are such subjective terms depending on the user

I'm sure I'll like it. If it's anything like my older W3's (Which most agree at worst it will be like) I'll be plenty happy. I'll post pics and a review once It's all done. I'll reference my last system I had for comparison when it comes to the sub. The vehicle's will be different though. My last system with two W3's I had in a blazer. This system is going in a Lincoln LS.

Either way, I'll let you know how it is.

Well I had a single IDMAX that I thought was pretty **** loud for a single sub, then I went to two type Rs which were very impressive and got plenty loud enough and finally ended up with 3 type rs on 1800wrms, that was just rediculous and I never really could turn it up while driving around with people, I was going to do a single 13 or 12w7 but after reading some stuff and researching I was told the 13w6 was a better choice...

agreed. Research a little on the forum here for awhile first and you will save hundreds of dollars. Look at:

anytime you do a thread with the word JL in it, you will have ppl chime in and tell you how much better one product is for the money. If you have narrowed it down to the W6 or L7 I would def go with the W6, bc it much clearer and can still get loud off less watts. And maybe if you could spend a little more I would go with a Memphis Pr 1000.1 used or Pr500.1

One W6v2 gets more than loud enough for me, but I don't "bump", either...

My buddy had a single 10" w6 in a small sealed box and it sounded good as hell. Bumped pretty hard and had amazing sq. I do think there is better for less money but despite what the jl haters say on here they do make good stuff. Just overpriced.
