camcorders

i dont know if anyone is good with them or not but i have a problem with mine.

I forget the brand right now ( im at work and i havent used it in awhile) but when i try to playback a tape i dont get anything ( if there is even anything on them) excpet one where i can see the video but there are pink lines through out the screen. My second problem is it wont let me record. The little tabs arnt broke or anything like that, ive checked. Any ideas?
