Calling the cops really work?

Alright, so i got ripped off on ebay awile back, tryed to handle it through paypal, and ebay, never worked out, i found out the guys info, and called the local cops on him after loseing close to $300, he lives in another state, first the cop i talked to said there was nothing he could do, aparently he didnt understand i had his address, and all the other good info, talked to him for a few more minutes after starting to get a little pissed, he finally said "he would look into it" and took down my number and everything, its been about 4 days now, and havent heard anything back from him, im starting to think he was just saying that to get me off the phone...

Has anyone been ripped off, and called the cops, and actually got them to do anything?

the most they might do is file a report about it.......not exactly their problem....however i'd suggest taking them to small claims court........the cop might see about giving the info to a detective and they will maybe send the other person a letter asking for their side of the story.....but most likly your screwed

Ive heard that you got to call the cops in your area and press charges...and then call the cops in his county and go through them.

Ive seen a guy get his vehicle "lost" and turned out the shop that he took it to was taking it apart and parting it out..so his truck was no more. He called the cops and then called the cops in the Store owners county. Im guessing its the same deal with you?Ill try and find more info for you if i can
