I dont have the time nor money to make many different boxes to try different box setups, so I would like to see what other people have found work best.

I have found with my box, subs and port facing back, that about 8 inches from the back is the loudest. How about any of the following?

Subs up, port up?

Subs up, port facing back?

Subs back, port up?

Any distance a that is a hotspot on any of the above?

I'm planning a new box, and would like to find out the hotspot. Basically, looking for the loudest spot. Box would be tuned around 28hz.

i can tell you sub up port up in my explorer is a big no no. as least to the ear.

sub up port back works well, but i havent had sub and port back in a while so i wont compare since i dont remmeber lol

edit: btw, all i have ever heard is that sub up port back is louder on mic, and sub back port back is louder to the ear...but dont take my word for it. you know how forums work...

I found that my down-firing, slot-loaded sub box sounds best in mine. Louder, cleaner.....and protects the subs too.

2" slot with the opening facing the rear........box is a few inches fronm the rear hatch.

Uh, that's not a slot ported box, unless you mean the height of the box is 2" pretending the subs are slotted. I didn't see any slots anywhere.

My SUV sounds good with subs and vent both facing towards the tailgate, see avatar.
