Call me retarded, hooking speaker wire into amp RCA?

Theoretically, if someone had a bone stock system and wanted to add an amp and subs. Couldn't you disconnect one of the rear speakers and use the - + wires as RCA inputs to the amp? Yes you would need to rewire RCA ends on, but done correctly it should work right? Also, whats a good roody-poo method to hook up the amp remote wire? (no hookup on the HU)

Not really. Speaker leads are amplified. They are high level. The amplifier is looking for a MUCH lower signal. You're probably blow the amp inputs doing that. I don't know what roody poo is. I think you lick penises. Get a line out converter.

Get a Loc (line out converter) Paying 6 dollars is well worth it. Ive re-soldered rca's into speaker wire before, and trust me its a pain.

As for remote, you can just wire into any connection that works when the car is on, but not when it is off. I have seen people splice into windshield wipers before to do this.

You could also run a toggle switch like limited said.

Probably means ghetto way since this whole post is just that.
But for the remote wire question you can find a wire that becomes "hot" when the car is on and just use that one. Or install a toggle switch on a wire.
Sweet thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif This is a MASSIVE ghetto setup for a friend with a leased car that cant be modified. Also eCrack, I don't lick *****, but I like your attitude

I actually used to do this for RCA's in the late 80's. It works but as has been mentioned even at gain all the way down you have to be really careful with volume as it is easy to over-drive your amp. We used to either use just an ACC slot for remote turnon or a switch.

This is incredibly ghetto and the PAC line out converters will do this for around 20$ and they include rem-turn on.

I have actually talked to people who know what they're doing that mentioned using speaker outs from a small amp (25X2 or similar) as line driver splicing RCA ends onto speaker outs to drive multiple amps.
