Cadence 12 Wild Beast read at 3.1 to 2.9 ohm safe with 2 ohm kicker amp?

Took a 12 inch into local audio dealer bought subs used. The reading was mostly steady at 3.1 ohms for 4 ohm sub, at one point dropped to 2.9. The tech said that the readings indicate that the sub has seen its best days and may fry any amp I hook it up too .... this being said the spider on this sub we both agreed was a good tight feel... Just need an opinion from the information I have given. Dont want to blow a brand new zx 750.1 Kicker amp I just perchased on a dinosaur speaker.

Three ohms isn't out of line for a reading on a four ohm coil. Of your Dmm isn't a higher end one, it'll fluctuate too.

Did you touch the leads of the dmm together to see the resistance before trying it on the coils of the sub?

Its not going to hurt your amp.

being an old speaker if it's sagged at all that will shift your ohm load reading as long as the coils aren't cooked your good.
