Cable TV guys I have questions

were actually not in any service areas, so we have satellite internet (125 a month by itself) and cable here is almost 60, so combined thats 185, split between both of us. My grandpa works for the cable company, and just about anybody out there doesnt give a ****. Were 350ft off the road so were really not supposed to have it without paying an assload for it, but i got it like that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My current ISP btw is "wal mart connect" dialup, im sure they couldnt care less about this, as theyre going down anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif So please call them if youd like. I pay my 10$ a month for their service so theyre good.

To the people that mentioned the RF amplifier, i will look into that. I had been thinking about it for a while but didnt know if they were any good. Ill keep you guys posted. Next were gonna be bootlegging electricity! Im also considering running power wires from my car to his that way we can stick it to the man and not have to upgrade his alt to run another amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
flip the meter outside around and it runs backwards. and if they ever shut you off just pull the meter out them take off the little plastic sleeves they use to shut you down off the prongs and re install.

old meters work that way, the newer ones it doesnt matter. fyi, the electric company will charge you for tampering if you turn it on yourself

i also told my mom what you have done and she is very disappointed in you

I have to giggle at situations like this. "My attempt at stealing cable has failed and I need help." You can't just keep splitting the signal and expect to not have loss. Where's a good face-palm pic?
I agree cable can be split but there is always loss and over distance it becomes worse I do not believe you can even boost a cable signal that is already split. But hey what do I know I have satellite. Just pay for it or switch to sat for tv so you do not have to pay an arm and a leg every month than get dsl for internet.

Oh my gosh. There is so much misinformation after the first 2 responses. First, with the way you have it configured, you are losing 15 dB just off of the splits alone. You said there is a thin white wire running to one of the splitters. My guess is it's copper braid RG-59 bought from Walmart. Replace that with steel braid RG-6. There is so much signal leaking right there. Not to mention the cable loss of such a thin wire. DO NOT amplify your cable modem! Amplifiers will amplify both forward and return signals. This will cause your modem to shut down or constantly reset as the node pings it due to too high of a transmission. Your best bet is to home run all outlets (run a line from the one bedroom straight to the main splitter, then run your neighbor off of the main splitter. Get a 6-way splitter to replace the 4-way. This one will work : http://www.sjmediasystem.com/oph-h806.html That will take away about 9dB. Remember, RG-6 cable loses about 6 dB for every 100ft.
