Cable driven locks

Has anyone ever installed a keyless entry alarm on a vehicle with cable driven locks? The vehicle is an 07 Focus and was always told that you cant add keyless to these vehicles because of the cable locks. But I have seen actuators that are specifically for vehicles with the cable driven locks. I have done many regular installs involving actuators and am just wondering how much more difficult it is to install these. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

there is a way to do it but there is no guarantee that it will work with every car...cable driven locks are made in two parts there is usually a plastic sheilding wrapped around a metal cable....you neeed to strip back the plastic sheilding very carefully and attach the pole from your actuator to that and run as normal sometimes it work sometimes it doesn as you have to get the actuator mount perfect...good luck!

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it. I think I will go ahead and pass on that job. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

the adapters were not that bad to install, but the adjusting part and to get all 4 doors to act the same, takes time, plus you have to run wires in to the doors to power the actuators. then know how to wire it to the alarm.

How long would you say it took you? Its for a dealership and I wouldnt be doing the install and my installer works on commission. Did the shop charge any extra? I have plenty of alarm experience and even done many actuators and will be overlooking the install, so that isnt a problem. I just dont have any installers with this kind of actuator experience nor do I have anyone that around me that does in case there was a problem. Im sure I could figure it out if that came up but than I have to worry about my installer b*tching cuz he isnt making any money.

Could you pm me what you guys charged total for the job. and if it was just an alarm /keyless or remote start? Like stated before it is for a dealership so money isnt a problem. I just want to make sure that if we take the job on we are well compensated for it. Thanks.
