if you want to wire to a 1 ohm stable amp, then you want two dual 4 ohms.
If you want to wire to a 2 ohm stable amp, then you want two dual 2s

One dual 2 can wire down to 1 ohms if single sub

and one dual 4 can wire down to 2 ohms

Single dual 1 wires to .5 ohms or 2 ohms

Two dual 1s wires to 1 ohms or 4 ohms

Could you explain wiring options for a pair of subs as related to dual 2 or 4 ohm subs please? To use a 2ohm or possible 1 ohm amp for example.

With a 4 ohm DVC speaker you could wire it for 2 ohm (parallel) or 4 ohm (single) or 8 ohm (series).

A 2 ohm DVC could be wired for 1 ohm (parallel) or 2 ohm (single) or 4 ohm (series).

Dual Voice Coils allow for Bi-Amping and a multitude of load impedances.
