Buzzing from amp

I was readjusting the gains on a FSD-2600 with a remote unit, and when I hit it with 0dB tones it began buzzing internally. It WAS a little higher than the rated output and the buzzing went away once I dropped the voltage down to appropriate levels. Is this just because the amp was trying to put out too much (clipping), or is it something else?
