Buying Kicker 1200.1, please advise...

So I decided that a kicker 1200.1 is probably the best amp for my subs and what I am trying to accomplish. I currently have 2 kicker Solobaric L7s, 4ohm. Now, do any of you know the cheapest place to buy a Brand New, not refurbed, Kicker 1200.1? So far at ikesound, $388.00 + shipping is the best price ive seen. A local shop wants $480.00 for a 600.1, those bastards. Also here are some more noob questions that would really help me.

1. So If I run that amp at 1 ohm, will I be getting 1200 watts to both? or to each? is the 1200 split between the two subs giving each 600 rms?

2. How do I run the amp at 1 ohm? or say at 4 ohm?

3. Whats the difference between parallel and series? just the impedence right?

My prior set up consisted of a Fosgate Mono Digital 500db. My fuse 40 amp/volt? fuse kept blowing, so we put a 150 amp fuse. The next week, my amp just stopped working.. i figure its blown.. is it because my 2 Kickers are wired parallel? Thereforemaking it a 1, or 2 ohm load? which my amp wasnt capable of holding? I am so confused right now.

4. Since I have two, 4 ohm L7s.. each is parallel in its own box.. does that make my total ohm load 1, 2 or 4 still?

Thanks so much guys.

Each sub would receive 600w.

2. How do I run the amp at 1 ohm?
Wire them like this:

or say at 4 ohm?
Wire them like this:

Though, with that amp, I have no idea why you would want to wire them to 4ohm.

3. Whats the difference between parallel and series? just the impedence right?
Well, the way they are wired is different.

is it because my 2 Kickers are wired parallel?
Assuming each coil is 4ohm, if they wired them in parallel/parallel (the first picture up there), then yes, that is likely why the amp blew.

Thereforemaking it a 1, or 2 ohm load?
1ohm. And no, those RF amps weren't stable to 1ohm.

4. Since I have two, 4 ohm L7s.. each is parallel in its own box.. does that make my total ohm load 1, 2 or 4 still?
Each sub would be 2ohm, which means when you wire them together to go to the amplifer, you would again wire them in parallel for a final 1ohm load.

Holy hell. Thanks for the quick reply! You are awesome bro. I saw those photo's but the thing is.. my subs are in 2 separate boxes, the photos above seem to both be in the same box.. so how would I actually wire it like that without exposing wires.. does this make any sense?

Assuming i kept my same set up, even tho my old amp blew.. i can just swap in the new 1200.1 and it should be ok correct? Thanks again.. i owe you a 6-pack..

Very easily; just take both positives and plug them into the positive terminal on the amp, then do the same for the negatives (both to the negative terminal on the amp.

Assuming it was actually wired to 1ohm before (which is my guess, but I seeing as how this is the internet, I can't say for sure), then yes, that would work

i owe you a 6-pack..
Why yes, yes you do. Just paypal $8 to squeak9798@hotmail.com and it'll be taken care of //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

nice work squeak
Eh, I try to do what I can //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

**Still awaits $8 for 6-pack**
