Question.. I was told by my local dealer that if I buy my stuff online (alot cheaper) that Alpine doesn't cover it with their warrenty.. Where I could go into any local Alpine authorized reseller and get it replaced that day.. Is this true?

Local dealer also said he could work on a few things to lower the price..

Is this a good deal?

Thanks

Matt

Could you include some insight into you post? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thanks!

$500 more to have it installed, warranty, and have someone to go back to if something goes wrong? I think you answered your own question.

Your local dealer is correct. Neither Alpine nor JL authorize internet sales. Which means everything you bought online could break the day you installed it......and you'd be screwed out of your money.

For a difference of only $500 on a near $3k deal, I think you would be a total idiot for not going with the authorized dealer considering you get it installed and fully warrantied for that small (relatively speaking) price difference.

True....but unless they are doing to sellout of last years models, Crutchfield sells at right around MSRP pricing.
Absolutely correct - the only reason that I mentioned it at all was simply making the point that there is a single online outlet for Alpine that brings an authorized purchase. Plus - Crutchfield gives you all the install paraphrenalia for free that most shops are going to try and charge you for even when buying the audio gear from them.

Crutchfield's pricing is nothing to write home about and never has been (excepting if you're making a huge purchase getting away from paying sales tax could be a significant thing) but even with that in mind I have been for years and continue to be a big advocate of theirs. You just cannot beat the level of customer service from an online dealer, period.
