just bought a new lg lcd tv. tv is 42 inches, model number 42lg30. anyway now im kinda regretting it and i am very critical of the picture quality. faces seem kinda blurred and not as detailed as my 32 in samsung lcd. overall screen seems to have some kind of "sheen" on it.

so now im kinda thinking about taking it back and getting a different model. anyone have any ideas on maybe a better model in the price range. also any places online that are good to buy from other than best buy.

The LG LCD is actually pretty nice for its price. I have the Toshiba 47" 1080p Regza. It's pretty similar to the LG in terms of inputs, but the resoulution is a little crisper. I'm still trying to play with the settings a little to get the best picture, but its serving me very well. I'd recommend it. I got mine from Overstock.com

I bought a 42' Olevia 1080p LCD at Walmart for $850 (242T FHD). $150 less than the New Egg price ($999). Has good quality and specs and great reviews for a TV in that range. Not the nicest TV of course, but cant be beat for the price. Only gripe I've heard is that it doesn't have quite as good black level as say a Sony, costing almost $500 more, but I haven't noticed. Can't wait to hit up GTA4 tomorrow on it at full 1080p through HDMI.:p

anyone here own a plasma

i nkow theres the negatie of potential screen burn but im wondering how big of an issue that actually is

my samsung is 1080 but the lg is 720, is it worth it nowdays to get teh 1080?

i got a 42" vizio, paid $1450 after tax and 5 year warranty, and i love it, i kind of wanted to cancel the warranty, but then if something happens in 4.5 years, ill be pissed, lol.

I have a 42" HP plasma 720p that I got from BB for wicked cheap, under a grand with a 4 year warranty, I love the picture of it. I can definately say I like the picture of a plasma screen over an LCD.

yeah i kinda thought the same thing too. bu the screen burn just kinda worried me. i guess what i didnt think of was the warranty from best buy should cover that, right? anyone nkow how good best buy is on honoring those extended warranties?

I used to work with a guy who came from BB and he said when they got returns when people had warranties they would either give you the next closest TV or let you use the money towards whatever you'd want, that money being the price of the TV initially plus interest.

Watch a lot of sports or action movies? If so, a 120Hz LCD would be a better choice: Samsung 6 Series, XBR4, Sharp 82 series or Mitsubishi LT series.

I work with HDTVs all day. I dont like the LG30 series but the LG50s are pretty nice. But the best TV for price/performance has got to be the new toshiba Regzas. Last year they were shit, this year I'd wager them against most "high end" models...

The sammy 550 series is not 120Hz?
