Buying a gun in florida...

Thanks for that info, Loyd. I wasn't aware that any states still had a waiting period on handguns still. Louisiana had one but it was repealed for some reason ~ convenient for those of us that are legit...maybe not so good for those ne'er do wells that have enough sense to stay under the radar to a sufficient degree to maintain a clean record.

In Louisiana so long as you pass the NICS and the state police checks you can walk out with your purchase same day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

When I bought my .40 the lady at the counter told me, and I quote, "You must be squeaky-clean because that's the fastest approval I've ever gotten from NICS!" (she almost didn't get to finish rattling off my social security # before she was told to proceed with the sale, apparently)

Thats how GA is. Could take a few minutes could take a few days. Ive had both in GA. Plus if you had your CCW, they would let you walk out with it anyway, but they recently changed that. In FL Im not sure if they still do that, I know if you go to a gun show in FL with your CCW they let you walk out with it.

What amazes me is how many people at various establishments look at you cross-eyed when you present a passport for ID. (are they really that uncommon for people to carry around??)

I had misplaced my wallet once and consequently was carrying around my passport for ID. Some silly cashier at a convenience store carded me when I went to get a 6-pack and at first she didn't want to accept my passport for ID telling me that it wasn't a government-issued identification.

As I was attempting to correct her and educate her that it is government-issued but Federal government rather than state her manager walked in and saw what was going on on quickly stopped all that noise in its tracks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I guess southern states are alot easier to obtain one. NJ...you need a permit for even a BB/Pellet gun. Although in PA you can find handguns at Walmart and BB guns on the shelves..
Definitely waaaaaaay easier. In MD you cant even get a permit unless you have a good reason and jump through hoops. Gay as hell. In GA all i did was pay $70. In FL just gotta take a 4 hour class.
