What should I do?? Buy the flares from partsexpress or try and make my own. Problem making my own is that we don't know if they will come out perfect and I have to find time to make them before next Sunday. I also have to buy a heat gun in order to do it.

Im thinking about getting eight 4" ports directly from partsexpress. Eight 4" ports= about four 6" aeroports (correct?)

Buy Eight 4" Aeroports from partsexpress- $100

Make my own four 6" Flare end PVC pipes- $80 ( have to buy heat gun and all the things needed)

8 4" ports = 100sq"

4 6" ports = 113sq"

about the same...i have used the parts express precision ports and they work nicely. i don't know how long you'll need them, but the section between the flared ends is 12".

here's the formula to figure the length. it accounts for the flared ends. the middle section is 12" and both flared ends make it a total of 15" long.

lv = vent length (in ")

vb = box volume in cu'

fb = tuning freq.

r = radius of port

lv = [(8466.4 x r^2 / vb x fb^2) - 1.463 x r] - 5

if the length work for you, i'd go with the precision ports.

Its not worth the money iff you mess up. Id say spend the extra 25 bucks and know that its perfect. By making them yourself you are taking a risk of messing them up which could end up costing you more

Also forgot to mention that the 6" aeroports I was supposed to use were:

6"x10" (long)

the 4" ports are

4"x17"(long)...I have to trim them down to 10" I (i think)

well, then you may have to make them because the longest you'll get from partsexpress is 15". you did calculate the numbers using the formula for flared ends, right? it will not be the same as a standard round port.

This is the P/M I got from Moe:

Me- How many 4" aeroports would I need in order to equal the same thing as the 6" ones? I cant get 6" aeroports after realizing how expensive they are.

2 4" ports = 1 6" port roughly, youll end up spending $100 on 4"ers.

duuah...i don't know what i ws thinking...12 + 5 is 17...not 15.

if the length works for you, then get the from partsexpress. i use just 2 of their 4" ones for my 15" brahma and did 146db @ 38hz with 1200w..box was about 4cu'

like i said before though, the formula is different, you may want to check the length again if you did not use it.

see, the only problem is if you try...tryyyyyyyyyyy to make your own...that 75-90 could turn into 150-180.....and not sound as good. I would buy them....what if you dont make the flared part long enough, or to short, or it flares to quickly, or the flare is to long......unless you know how to calculate that out...i dont...how do you do it..
