****, so I just got done playing this game...its frekin amazing.
If you thought Halo 3 was good or even CoD4...well ****.
Mass Effect blows both of them out of the water. I'll admit, multiplayer is a ****ing awesome, and a ton of fun, but there is not one game that has the single player of Mass Effect.
The Graphics are mind-boggling for the Xbox 360, let alone any console. As strong as the Playstation 3 may be, there is not one game that can come even close to Mass Effect's visuals. Not only does it look amazing, it is artistic. What I mean is that the levels look real, not some super-graphical fantasy.
The story is great too. It's a real story. It's mature. It's not the "oh noes what do we do deal, where the answer is so obvious that the game gets lame. The levels are linear in a sense that you need to go from this point to that point, but there open.
Basically your given the floor to a whole level (or a section) and can explore and do whatever you want. Not to mention you can land on extra planets and do sub-plots as well.
It's not only an RPG though, its a shooter. And it really does kick *** when you duck behind cover, pull out that kick-*** sniper and get a headshot from 250 meters away and watch as the guy explodes and blasts into pieces.
The best part is you can choose what you wanna be. You can be the ruthless sonofa***** that shoots first and asks later or you can be the goody-tooshoes who tries to smooth things out.
In short- If you have a 360, you need this game. Period.
