Things got effed up while Bush was prez (some certainly his fault (Iraq), some not (soaring stock markets always come back down)) and it made a lot of people think it'd be a good idea to give democrats a chance to fix it all (good luck democrats).
But the fact is, sometimes things simply do get quite a bit effed up, out of whack.
I think Bush will be remembered as the better prez because, like it or not, he better represented the typical American. Sometimes it ain't pretty, but that's just the way it is. And, while people think Obama can fix every little problem, we already know his solutions are going to be Socialist solutions, aka Robin Hood solutions, and I don't think the majority of Americans really want that; They just think they do. And, since people can't picture how it will actually turn out, it seems like it's gonna take actual implementation of Socialism for them to feel the pain of it.
So, if Obama gets his programs hooked in deep enough that the next Republican prez can't get rid of them, we may be basically Socialist for a loooong time, and I just don't see that turning out well.
A minor amount of Socialism seems to actually work out OK, as we've had lots of of for a while now (food stamps, unemployment $, etc.); It's when these Socialist things become bigger and bigger, which is what is happening, that eventually our economy and every little movement will be affected by it, and the Socialist crash Russia had could occur here.
Obama's the dad that takes all your saved up car money when you're 16 and buys you the 4-door he wants you to have. You're probably gonna be p|ssed off for the rest of your life about this.
Bush was the dad that would kick in 1/3rd of the money, give you some suggestions, maybe some limits, and then let you buy the car yourself, also letting you learn the hard way.
Republicans: "I'll reluctantly help you a little bit, to stabilize our world somewhat, but you gotta take most of the responsibility in helping yourself."
Democrats: "I'll save you, make your whole life perfect, and I'll use other people's money to do it. In fact, you better just let me control everything, so I can really get it all perfectly right, distributed evenly."
Life ain't perfect.
