Burnt Clutch on Dirtbike....

i had a ttr 125 2002 model. burnt 1 clutch just driving it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
is it what you learned on? If not i just think its driving style or maybe an unlucky thing. I have honestly never had problems with mine... and the only problem i had was an operator error which i admit. I am happy however to figure out its a cheap fix.

nah we just ***** the hell out of it. first one slipped until we ajusted then it finally went out. drove at least a tank a day for like 4 years lol

Really easy to replace the clutch on a bike. Just pull off the kickstart and remove the case cover. After that its usually 5 or 6 bolts to take the discs out to rebuild it. I have a yz250/blaster with a hinson racing clutch/springs in it and ive pulled a car with no problem. Also have alot of work done to it though. You shouldnt have slipped the clutch like that. Also will **** your rings up as your ***** and crankcase share the same oil

did I read that right.. you rode home with the clutch PARTIALLY engaged!?! If so... DONT do that again!
semi correct. I was attempting to tow a golf cart and wasnt able to release the clutch in the gear i was in. Before i lowered my gear it burnt up. I mean i knew it was going to happen i just didnt think it would happen as soon as it did.

Under a load like that, you can destroy a clutch in a matter of seconds. Hell, climbing a hill in too tall of a gear can burn it out before you reach the top of the hill, let alone towing while partial clutched.

This. Happened to my ATC. It was pits. I think my Dad got a new transmission or something... maybe a new bike. That was a long time ago. Now it doesn't have a clutch, just two brakes... but the clutch is still loose. I need a new one. D:

Yeah, it's not a big deal and this is the first time i have had to spend money on my bike for the most part. thanks for all the helpful responses and i have learned that a clutch is very easy to burn up under that load. I just have never had a problem with it before, now i know.
