today i was in class and some guy said in a really redneck voice "if you burn the flag wrap ur self in it first" to mock me cuz i guess i love my country too much?

well the guy that said it is some berkely hippii think adam71 x 100000000 w/o the smarts

so what do u guys think, burning the flag just another thing ppl can do or serious offence?

i agree w/ u 100% burning an american flag is like saying i freaken hate this country, all it stands for, and majorly disrespects all those who have gave their lives to make this nation better and all those who have and will serve

I never really thought about it since there are better ways to show your discontent for a corrupt political system.

They may be naive dumbasses, but they do have a right to express their sentiments about the government in a peaceable way...and as long as they don't set fire to anything else, burning a flag should be allowed.

Burning a flag is not arson.

"the willful or malicious burning of property (as a building) especially with criminal or fraudulent intent"

Its definatley more of a protest than arson.

I burning a flag is a legitimate form of protest, but it does show extreme disrespect for the country. However, people who burn the flag are expressing their disgust towards the government, kind of like Bush being hung in effigy in the middle east. They show their disgust in hopes of bringing about change.

I don't think it should be illegal, but I do think that people need to have a really good cause to do it.
