Burning Movies to disks

most retail cd burning programs can author dvd's from any source material

there's freeware, but it's all a pita, imo

i'd just **** it up and use nero or roxio

intervideo also makes a dvd-authoring program, windvd creator

keep in mind recoding an avi carrier into mpeg-2 is going to take a LONG time, and quite possibly add a lot of artifacts during the reconversion (changing compressions is always a no-no, think of converting a .wma to .mp3.... ugly)

you might be better off just getting a divx enabled dvd player

you can get a brand name one for as low as $70 now, and it will play any mpeg-4 compression in an avi carrier

you need to convert to .vob files to play on most dvd players. some will play .mpg or .avi, but not many. also, buy dvd-r. the blanks are compatible with a wider array of players. after converting, you need to burn the converted folder with nero, roxio or some other dvd burning software. the folder that you will be burning is what's called a "VIDEO_TS" folder.
