There is no arguing that performance is different initially. However, once the driver is "warm", performance should be very similar if not identical.

John Krutke has tested this previously.

I have had one problem when I lived in NY. Was -30 and I had an Eclipse 8812 (aluminum cone) and didn't even think about what I was doing. Just got in the car and cranked it (1000 RMS). The glue holding the voice coil to the cone instantly cracked and broke apart. The cone came completely seperated from the coil and the sub was no more.
