Bumpin in the cold

i thought it would expand? the freezing of the spider adds mass to it making it expand, and that is what impedes the cone from moving back and forth, and if your cone isn't moving, you voice coils will overheat almost instantly and start to burn up
You are bad at physics.

okay, so has anyone actually had their sub freeze? there is a lot of speculation, but i have never heard of that happening for real. Chicago has some cold winters, and i have never had any issues with a system in my car for the past 5 winters.

It wont harm most spiders or rubber surrounds unless you are talking abot temperatures well below 0 in your car. Granted you dont want topush a surround at 0 degrees 2"....but once it starts moving it will warm up and become more pliable.

but since the cone was froze solid, it didn't allow for proper cooling
Ummmm....coils dont burn when they are cold. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
