Brutus Bass Knob not working. What type of cable should I use?

I have a Brutus Bass Knob that goes to my Hifonics BRX2000.1D amp. However, I cannot get the knob to work at all. My amp sounds good, solid bass hits, but the second I plug my bass knob in, the amp stops sending signal to the sub. There's a light indicator on the bass knob to show that it's on, however, turning the knob does not affect anything on the amp, the amp just stops pushing power to the sub.

I'm thinking it might be an issue with the cable I have. I used a self-terminated CAT5E cable with B-Standard wiring, straight-through, cable. I've never seen a bass knob use a CAT5 cable before. I'm thinking that I've just terminated the ends incorrectly. Should the cable be straight-through, crossover, or rollover? Or is there some specifically designed cable for this knob?

Any suggestions would be wonderful. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks,
