I don't deny that some old Jew carved 10 nice common sense slogans into rock. Whether they came from a god the God or his Jew imagination I have no clue. Hammurabis code was a cool idea as well.

I'm not a terribly religious guy but if anyone had it mostly right philosophically I'd say it was Buddha -- basically... it's all on you to figure it out for yourself but you actually HAVE the power to do it as an individual... and humans have the power to discern what is right on their own.

To Christians & most other modern mono-theists humans are helpless & terribly flawed creatures who can do nothing without God... I find that very counter-productive to advancing our species & insulting to our capabilities.

IMO... but if you are happy believing what you do & don't push it down peoples throat / attack others based on your beliefs I don't care what you believe... whether is be Jesus, Allah, or the flying spaghetti monster.

to me its primary function in/of life. i think the world today is a hell whole because people dont follow tge basic principals of life.

what i mean is if you honestly can say that the ten commandments as bs. id rather not have any discussion futher because your simply not human..

Not at all -- I mean humans as an overall species are CAPABLE of discerning right & wrong via logic and philosophical reasoning -- not that each individual always gets it right. Not to mention the vast array of mental diseases humans can suffer from that cloud real judgement (things any compassionate creator that is also all powerful wouldn't allow to exist in my opinion).

People ****, murder, pillage, lie, etc in the name of their religion too -- but I'd say using a few examples to say that is what religion is ALL about wouldn't be a valid argument either. Frankly -- to repeat my earlier statement -- I don't take issue with individuals being religious at all (even though I don't agree with their logic). If it makes you a better person, makes you happy, so on & so forth go for it -- and for many people it DOES make their life better. I think that is great and most religions start with a good moral framework as their basis (I do disagree that good moral framework REQUIRES religion, though). The problem I have is pushing it on other people and/or assuming your way is the ONLY right path... and/or when religion turns violent.

To make it fair -- there is plenty of secular violence too... I just hate to see yet another reason for human beings to kill & hate one another.

i don't want to start an argument but i somewhat agree and disagree. not all people that have logical thoughts are capable of making sound and "good decisions" some do love to kill and are VERY intelligent. there though process is still logical(by definition) they often kill several people before getting caught and sometimes never get caught.

in these cases call me crazy but i truly believe in a evil and insidious energy that absorbs the soul and alters perception. people say they are "crazy" or have a disorder.

and I say this because Ive had very personal things happen to me and others I'm close to that lead me to believe this. one quick story is i had a very close first cousin that wasn't religious and never been in the church. he huffed gas and nearly died. He said when he was unconscious he saw a "spiritual dimension" of dark and light beings of energy "battling for his soul". granted the release of DMT and 5meo DMT more than likely was the source of the hallucination but it begs that fact that he seen this with little to know real relation to "religion".

I don't particularly define myself as religious but i can say this I cannot deny that the bible does have some great structure to it and the ten commandments are what i consider a fundamental way of life. you don't lie, steal, cheat or your spouse etc kill etc.. and that's the things i live by.

If you are a good person with any type of brain you know when you lie to someone and it affects them you have a feeling that is displeasing. some people don't. some people are pleased. some people love to be deceptive. in there minds its not wrong but to others it is undoubtedly wrong. my mother is a true Cristian and even me as an individual cannot judge her even though she is my mother she is a rational thinker. she does physical things to help her or a situation or people and then prays about it. I cannot say she is foolish for doing so no more than someone who says god doesn't exist.

im not going to judge you for how you think. i cant say i blame you as well.. as long as your a good person that's what counts. If i cannot disprove it i cannot disregard it.

can i prove god exist? not to everyone. can you prove god doesn't exist? maybe you can but to me its not likely. I don't disregard the idea it could totally be made up and there could be no god. at the same time i rather have been fooled here and when i die people say he was crazy to believe in god but was a good person than to not believe and do as i please and have noone at my funeral..

That has nothing to do with anything. You believe in Christian ideals without believing those bedtime stories actually took place literally as written.

I'm not christian, but I don't steal or kill. I don't lie much and I'm not the one cheating, but I'm fine with someone else cheating with me
