broken tinsel lead..

how much is a shop going to charge you for something that takes 5 minutes and very little effort //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif?

I have the same problem with my subwoofer.

I asked about fixing it also, and you're better off buying a soldering iron yourself and fixing it. It looks REALLY easy and cheap, plus you will have the iron in the future if you need it. It's like $10-30 in price range, most being right around $15-20. Radio shack or partsexpress.com is where I was told to get one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

dude. basically you are supergluing a wire together with a drop of melted metal.

melt the solder (metal) with the iron against one side of the tinsel lead, do the same to the other side, then touch them together and melt the metal sides together.

very VERY simple. about as basic as you can get dude.

dont waste your time with a shop.

also got a sweet deal on an eclipse 8053, $380 installed.
That's actually a very sweet deal........they got anymore for that price (other than the installation part)?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

nope, only had 1 i only put $100 down so far, i told him i get payed in two weeks and he told me thats fine. he tried to talk me into a 8454 he told me it was better i thought the 8053 was top of the line? he also told me i should ditch my hifonics brutus for a better amp cause its crap

It was.......last year. They changed their lineup and I believe ditched the 8053. The 8454 replaced it. As far as I know, the only differences are that the 8454 has the keycard thing, has an internal amp and can play MP3s. Basically they added "accessories" to the 8053 and called it an 8454. I *think* they may have changed DAC's, but I'm not sure, and the 8053 definitely isn't inferior to the 8454. I personally prefer the 8053 though......and would love to have one.

First, remember he's trying to sell you something so that he can make some money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But, he wouldn't be entirely wrong. There are definitely better amps available. But, the Brutus' are good for what they are, and for their price range (ebay prices) they are competitive........but I definitely wouldn't pay the full retail price for one. However, the people on this forum tend to make it seem as if the Brutus is the end-all, be-all of amplifiers.
