how much to get this fixed at a local shop? im thinking only a few bucks cause they only gotta sodder one wire...if i knew how to sodder i would do it myself.

soldering's a piece of cake, unless your talking about SMT...

get a cheap Weller iron and some solder, and you'll be prepared for 90% of the electronics fixes you'll need to do. A 25-35 watt iron would be good for all around work.

No, it will still work only with half the power handling. Just solder the thing, I can promise you its much easier than you may think.

Are you using the other voice coil? Obviously the one with the broken lead isn't going to work....

if you run wires directly to the working voice coil, there is no reason why it wouldn't work

if its wired in paralel it should still be working.

okay how do i know which post is for which vc maybe thats why the tinsel broke. i didnt think it matter which - and + i ran the one wire together to as long as the other two went out to the amp

edit: n/m i see now.

so if the positive on coil 1 is broke, run the amp to coil 2?

i had a 12" w0 and the tinsel lead broke..all i did was take a very thin ga wire and tie it to the leads with the least amount of slack possible...worked fine..

huh? you cant just run one coil...(well just for testing i would do it) but if you just run it to one coil for regular listening it will change all the t/s parameters. and the box will be wrong, and you will just end up messing it up more
