is this not good? rockford fosgate obviously does not know how to make sturdy adapter plates so thats why it broke. will the 5 1/4 fit in the 5x7 easily with no problems anyway? i don't really wanna have to make my own and don't really want to go out and buy another one if i don't have to

Yeah, why the hell would you want the 5 1/4" driver sitting in a big hole with nothing around it?

You have to seal the driver up against it's baffle. If obtaining an adapter is too tough a feat, then glue it back together and install carefully.

Why isn't anyone questioning that 5-1/2 speaker is being fitted into 5x7 hole? Is this because a 6.5 inch speaker will not fit into 5x7 holes?

I understand that the choices for 5x7 woofers are limited (although companies like Infinity, Image Dynamics, and JL Audio are making fine 5x7/6x8 component speakers that will fit), but if going with a round speaker, I would have installed at least a 6-1/2, if possible.
