Bridging problems

Oh, I have two kicker cvr 12" rms of 400 watts... They are dual voice coils and 4 ohms...

The amp is a kicker kx 800.2

400 X 2 at 2 ohms

200 X 2 at 4 ohms

800 x 1 at 4 ohms bridged...

I wired them in series and am bridging them to the left channel... I have tried so many bridging configurations my head hurts... I don't want to destroy the amp anymore than I have, I already wired them to both channels before realizing the audio guy wired them at 2 ohms when they are 4 ohm subs so I unhooked that after 35 mins of playing it like that and smelling something start to burn. Now I have been trying to bridge it to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

This is where you are losing me.....you keep saying the are DVC, and that they are "4ohm subs". Does "4ohm subs" mean each coil is 4ohms, or that each coil is 2ohms (so that they are wired together for a final 4ohm load for each sub)?? Because, if they are 4ohm/coil, there is no way to wire both subs together for a 2ohm load

maybe your amp can't make a 2 ohm load? maybe you wired it wrong. Got to rockfordfosgates site for the wiring wizard.
I did it is wired in series for sure, that is why I am confused the bridging isn't working. I followed the instructions from the kicker manual exactly on how to bridge.

hmm, think he said DVC 4ohm, each coil with 4 ohms

**** I really wanted to bridge it to get 800 watts at 1 ohm... I guess I will just have to buy 2 ohms CVR's.

No, because you can't wire two DVC 2ohm/coil subs together into a 1ohm load. Plus, that amp isn't 1ohm stable........

Wire them like this, and bridge the amp;

Your amp will then put out 800w.

So then how did the "audio guy" wire them to 2ohm??

I was just saying that I cannot possibly get a 2 ohm load. Sorry if you misunderstood...

As for being able to get 800 watts out of the 4 ohm set up... I don't think I can which is why I wanted to bridge the amp... These are the specs at 2 and 4 ohms...

RMS Power at 2 Ohms 400 W x 2

RMS Power at 4 Ohms 200 W x 2

That is not enough power for me, so I thought I could bridge the amp at 1 ohm... The amp is 1 ohm stable, it is not 2 ohms stable... This is really pissing me off too cause everything is "supposedly" right.

This is the exact way they are wired...

No, you can not bridge that amp at 1ohm. If it's not 2ohm mono stable, then it definitely isn't 1ohm mono stable.

Sounds like you have other problems......where is everything set (gains, bass boost, etc) on both the amp and your headunit??
