Bridging home stereo reciever?

I've got a Sony STR-DE597 6.1, home stereo reciever. Its rated at 100watts a channel. I've also recently upgrade my speakers that are rated at 200 watts a speaker, and i'm just looking to get a lil more out of the combination of the two.

Can i bridge two channels per speaker with home stereo recievers, for the combined wattage? or is that only a car audio amp thing?

Just throwing this out there, Help me out if you can.

hmm...

ok guess thats the answer lol

The reason being no is because few receivers are stable into lower ohm loads like car amplifiers.
