Bridgeable to 2 ohms?

I just purchased an Image Dynamics 10" dual voice coil sub (4 ohms per coil) and a cheap Poweracoustik 2 channel amp (OV2-300). The amp manual states that the mono connection (+ of left channel to - of right channel) can be hooked up to a 4 ohm load. Therefore, I think I'm screwed since the net impedance of my sub can either be wired for 2 or 8 ohms. Is there another way around this? Like hooking each 4 ohm voice coil directly to both channels of the amp?

Appreciate any advise you can give.

If you run the speaker in parrallel. Basically you run the speaker wire to both terminals on the speaker. This cuts the resistence (ohms) in half giving you 2 ohms. If you run it in series you will get twice the resistence (8 ohms). You are going to use one + and - speaker output off the amp per speaker.

I would suggest looking up a a article on basic speaker wiring before you do this.

Yeah, if you run the coils in parellel you'll end up with a 2 ohm load, bad if your amp isn't rated for it. You can wire them in series and end up with the 8 ohm load. That shouldn't be bad for your amp, it'll just cut your power going to the sub in half. The best way would probably be to wire each channel on your amp to its own coil. That way your amp is getting the 4 ohm load. Problem is, you'll need two terminals (one for each coil) on your box.

Someone please tell me if I am wrong.
