Underpowering speakers blows them. Also, underpowering is worse than overpowering!!!

You know why, Circuit City e-learning says so...and so do the F-Tards my install bay...

HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! What a fucking JOKE!!!!

So, now we all know where the retards get there info from...

PS: Never in the history or the future of car audio will a speaker fail solely because of not having enough power. This is true...the above is a joke.

Its because people who run less power than the sub is rated for assume they can crank the gain full tilt, bass boost full tilt, and play max volume on the HU indefinitely.

Generally running more power than the woofer is rated for makes people pay a bit more attention.

I assume thats the reasoning behind what they are saying... but I'm probably giving them too much credit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2 ng, i got in a huge argument with everyone at my store about it too. everyone called me an idiot and all this stuff.

then i showed them the little metra book with all the terms and crap - and it said exactally what i said in there on one of those pages //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

i just quit my job this morning at circuit city though. my manager was being an ******* and frankly im not going to bust my *** over christmas break for him or anyone else there just to get treated poorly.

Yeah, this JUST happened...I'm at work.

All four of the installers looked at me, and were like "are you serious"...blah blah blah. They've been spoon fed bullshit, so that's all they know. Then one of them, who's been here for like 6 years (and always acts like he's pissed...and acts like he doesn't care about car audio) say "no, that's what 6 years of experience tells me..." I just laughed my *** off.

Orion told me underpowering the H2 with less than 1200w would cause them to overheat and blow.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

i guess you can't turn the H2's down:emb:

X2 happens alot. people underpowering and deciding they need to turn their gain up all the way, use preset eqs like superbass or powerful, use that little LOUD setting on the h/u. At that point the amp is clipping so bad your lucky the speakers last more than an hour.

its good to know that cc and bb installers dont grasp things very well lol (not saying that im perfect) but 90% dont have a grasp on electrical laws and what actually happens. i got into a big arguement with a district manager about caps. even demonstrated the voltage loss and drop. (he said he was a master installer and had an electrical background) yet he knew nothing about actual capacitance and decay (this was electrical 101 you learn it within first 6 weeks of class) was funny still because voltage of 13.8 with a cap and 13.97 without is betterand during a 50 hz test tone the voltage drop of 12.45 with cap was better than 12.5. to me its not that big of deal one way or the other but i didnt think at the time it was worth pressing saying that caps made or broke the system. (these were 150 dollar 1 farad digital caps) to me all they were good for was monitoring the system. if you really follow how you are trained there its training to make money which is ok but dont go putting that to a customer as absolutely needing it because once they learn it then they will know you at least tried getting one over for the wrong reason. we had people actually selling dynamat speaker kits with head units keeping 1 sheet and sticking the other somewhere up in the dash lol. to me that is just warped. also selling 4 bass blockers with every deck to save the speakers...to me its just nuts.

Then frankly, I'm surprised my Klipsch Forte II's haven't blown with 3.5wpc //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Even @ 10% THD //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you need to prove that they are wrong to whoever is the main boss OG guy then convince him to fire all those F tards and then convince them to hire the people of caraudio.com.

as stated before, I think what people mean by saying that underpowering a speaker will damage... are just saying 1/2 of the story.

If they finished the statement by saying "...because people will make up for the lack of performance by cranking up the gain, which pushes the amp to output more power at a much higher distortion rate.. resulting in eventual damage to the speaker" then they would be 100% right.

Lol, Circuit City is gay.
the irony in this post is incredible. Your sig begs people not to post *****, but this post in itself is whoring.. as you add nothing worth reading, nor does it contribute in any way to the thread.

Not calling you out or anything, i just found it slightly humorous.

x2, insert the Jackass theme song right there, @ insaneman..

Take that shit off your sig. It's not helping any.

And... Actually, underpowering your speakers can blow them.

This is how it works.

Applying no power to a speaker between 5 and 50 years and exposure to condensation/moisture will cause the coil to corrode, and therefor the speaker to be inoperational.

99.99% of the people here would simply take one set of fallacies and replace it with their own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If I was a shop owner, I wouldn't hire the vast majority of the users here, I'd laugh them out of my store...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
