how long do yall recommend running the HDC318 off of about 1000wrms, before actually cranking up the Hifonics 2000wt Brutus up to its full potential (i'm guessing 1700-1900wrms).....i don't want to turn the amp up before the sub is broke in, and risk messing it up...is 1000wrms, too much to be breaking it in with???..btw, the box is 5.9cuft at 37hz.

you need to break them in. DJ recommends it and there have been cases where if you dont break them in they will make mechanical noises. He recommends 8-10 hours of break in time playing at low to moderate levels. you can leave the gain where you want it but play at low to moderate levels and avoid songs with low frequencies. i did this and have no problems with mine.

aww man...we've been playing it pretty loud off of the 1000wrms, and we've been playing some really low songs too, i hope it's not messed up......we've only been playing it for maybe 1.5hours, in the past two days, so maybe that's not enough to mess it up......

well what i posted is exactly what dj (owner of audioque) told me to do. you probably didnt mess anything up off 1000 rms but i personally take care of my things and like to keep them nice so i did the full 8-10 hours and now i wang on it super hard with no problems or noises. there have been cases where people didnt break them in and there have been mechanical noises and there also are cases where people dont break them in and the woofer is fine. i played it safe and broke it in but so its up to you what you want to do with it.

ok then, i think i'll play the sub off of the same 1000wrms, but a lower volumes, until about sunday...by then i would think it'll have 6-8hours of play time on it, and then i'll crank it.....that hifonics shouldnt be enough to harm the hdc at full tilt, should it????...i'm sure they can handle more right?

it can handle more power but that doesnt matter. there is supposed to be a break in period. give the sub however much power you want and play at moderate volumes with no low songs. i really dont care what you do im just telling you what DJ told me to do.
