breaking in MT

Set the amp with a DMM or OSC to the correct levels. Plug in and enjoy.

As stated 2 days ago, and at least 30 other times on here......the sub will sound differently as it "breaks in" but you don't have to slowly increase the power.

is there a certain frequency i should play on them to break them in or should i just play songs so there are alot of different frequencies going through them?

the glue in the spider is going to do what it does, you dont need to force it any way, and you cant harm it by playing it hard when its new. its not like a car engine.

But, if the FS of the sub is higher due to extremely stiff suspension and you play it below tuning it may unload. After break in the fs is lower and wouldnt unload as easily.

But that is just splitting hairs and in all reality it isnt gonna matter

well it depends, during break in there is excess glue on the coil that is being burnt off. If you feel the dustcap and it is more than warm to the touch you probably should turn the volume down a hair as that can damage the sub.

I don't know about the excess glue on the coil myth.

Something tells me, if it burns that off, why can't it burn the glue that actually holds the winds in place.

I see burning glue is bad period, and you should set your gain differently, or don't play it as hard.

But he has the right idea to at least turn it down when it gets hot.
