Brand New Car. Looking to upgrade the stereo. Havent done this in a decade.

Hey guys. I recently traded in my 2004 Mach 1 with ZERO audio equipment(it was pointless at the time lol) for a gas saving 2014 Corolla S. Now Im once again interested in car audio but it has been sooooo long since Ive been into this stuff that I have no clue where to start. I'm not really looking for something that is going to wake the neighbors up but I would like something that would sound pretty good while getting too and from work without having to crank it up too loud. This car is completely stock. I have no clue how much this will cost since I will be starting from scratch. IDK say $1500 budget but Im open to considerations for higher prices if its worth it. Most likely I will be doing this install myself since I love doing stuff like that. If I upgrade the HU I would like to be able to keep the Navigation and back up camera. Please help me out. Thank you.

You can keep stock stereo and add audiocontrol LC6i for integration with aftermarket amps. Do you want 1 sub or 2? You can do 1 soundqubed HD312 with about 1.5kw to it. It will have plenty of output and sounds pretty good, too. This will give you a lot of room to spend more on the components. Heard great things about Hybrid Audio Clarus, they can be had under $500, as well as Focal PS 165FX, which are a bit more. A nice 2 or 4 channel amp, 1.5kw for a sub and HDS312 should do the trick.

Depends which 10s. I like to have more power. If you went with a pair of TC epics, 500w rms each, I'd get an amp that does at least 1.5kw. This will also depend on which components you get and an amp for those, so you don't go over your budget.

understood. Not really concerned with the components at the moment. I dont think the stock stuff sounds bad at all. Just need a little extra thump. Im sure Ill end up changing that up later though.

Yea, good place to start. j dubya, do you know the size of your stock alternator? I wouldn't go over 1,500W rms on stock alternator.
no clue but I guess I will have to look into that lol.

Im really liking the reviews on these Sundown Audio SA-10 600W SA Series.
