My teammate owned his NSPL class all season with a pair of w7 12's.. Was world champion this season.. and won by like 4 db over the 2nd place competitior.. Used my box design.. so I know the capability of the driver..

 

Granted.. the W7 isn't SPL omptimized (long coil = low Bl) but neither are the other woofers mentioned...

 

If you're looking to spend less.. go Brahma or XXX.. if not.. go W7

now loyd, i wasnt saying that the W7 couldn't get loud, i was merely stating that it was not built as an SPL driver, as previously mentioned. When you consider cost, application, and the slight edge of the brahma in SPL all would make it my choice. I have heard the W7 and it is a very good sub... if you have the money for it. Just wanted to make that clear.

The W7 has greater SPL capabilities than the Brahma... Comparing sizes, the W7 will take it in the higer power categories.

will it really? Well i guess you learn new things everyday. I was just relating my experiences here to a generalition. At all of the contests around here the W7's have never won the SPL categories. They sounded great, but i felt that they just were not made to compete in SPL. Maybe it was just the boxes or the power to them. Well thanks for learnin me somethin new!

that's new to me too.... seems like everyone and their momma 'claims' brahama has more spl than JL'S w7

The Brahma will outdo the W7, in about the 1kW and under category, after that though is where JL's higher cost suspension start to show though.
