brahma or W7

hey guys, i want to run a pair of 10 inch subs. I want to use two JBL 1200.1's. what would you guys recomend the most, i want value and spl. spl is more of a factor than sq. I am looking at the brahma 10inch or the 10inch W7. thanks alot, dan.

no contest, the brahmas are a hell of a lot better. The W7's are overrated and the brahmas would have a lot more SPL

i dont know.. never heard a brahma but i got a set of L7 in 1.88 sealed enclosure and they were NICE.. very acurate sq if you concider i was STILL hitting a 148.3... but now i am designing a "show box" so i dont really know whats capable next..

Well...the W7 adds a nice punch, and so does the Brahma. I would say Brahma.

also if you are lookin at SPL there are several more subs out there that you can get that have slightly better SPL, like the RE XXX.

yeh either go with the brahama or the re xxx both hit more then w7's and can be found cheaper too

don't ever think taht the W7 can't hit big numbers...

only thing is, to get them, you ahve to abuse a seriously expensive driver...

the W7 is honeslty one of the best SQ drivers EVER...

however, for your application, look into a few otehr drivers...

the RE XXX, ED A series, MMATS Juggys, Kove Armageddons, etc...

Ugh....

The brahma's are not a lot better, and the W7 is not overrated.

SPL is purely reliant on install. If you are after more output and are looking at value per dollar, the brahma is the better choice due to cost. Both are excellent drivers no matter how you look at them though.

In my experience the W7's simply are not made for SPL. They are a GREAT SQ driver, but as is previously mentioned, BASSBOY is looking for SPL. The price of the W7 is high because of the research that they had to put into it. But, once again, in my experience the W7 is a SQ driver and not a SPL driver. Just my opinion...

The W7 was designed to be the world's best SQ driver... they did a very good job...

The W7 can also get insanely loud, INSANELY... but is by no means the BEST SPL driver out tehre... it NEEDS the right box, and you DONT want to abuse it... not because it cant take, but because it is so darned expensive...

SPL between the W7 and the Brahma is quite close (So says the ***-grabber). Cost effectively, as Josh said, the Brahma would be a better value.

I get a laugh when people say the W7 cannot get loud...

My teammate owned his NSPL class all season with a pair of w7 12's.. Was world champion this season.. and won by like 4 db over the 2nd place competitior.. Used my box design.. so I know the capability of the driver..

Granted.. the W7 isn't SPL omptimized (long coil = low Bl) but neither are the other woofers mentioned...

If you're looking to spend less.. go Brahma or XXX.. if not.. go W7

great thanx guys. well this really was not me it is my friend who is really new to caraudio and he would not believe me that the brahma is better than the w7. well anyways ur guys replies are pretty much what i expected. thanks.

i know i havnt been here for a while, but my subs blew. now i am in the process of setting up another system so i will frequent here more often.
