Does anyone have an idea how the two would compare in recommened ported box's on 1500w? I would assume the brahma and older style XXX are more comparable. So I guess the real question is, is how much better/nicer the new style XXX over the old style?

If you have the space for an unusually large box, the new style XXX would perform very well. But imo the Brahma's enclosure requirements are much more realistic for the car environment. And before you say it, RE's box recommendations are way too small for that driver, you'll never reach xmax before reaching the thermal limits of the coil. But again, if you have enough space, and enough power, the new XXX is a potent speaker. It would do great in a home theater environment where space constraints are minimized.

Both designs have their advantages, but for my personal needs Id probably chose the Brahma.

Good info once again guys. Im going to hang on to this brahma but ive always wanted to a new style XXX since they came out. Just trying to get a general idea of how the brahma and new XXX compare.

I know the MKII and old style XXX are almost identical in most aspects..

How big of a box would you recommend for it?

This.

Well i have the brahma in what i believe is around 2.5-3 cubes. tuned to 33-34hz, did a 141 on the termlab meter at i 39hz. The gain on the kx is between 1/4 and 1/2 so roughly 3/8 and the bass boost are all the turned down. I dont use the bass remote..

I think the saz i have might be a better match for the sub, but right now i couldnt happier. This is a GREAT sub that sounds amazing and gets super low.
