Bracing?

Do i need to brace my box.Its gonna be a 2.5 cu ft tuned to 35hz. its for 1 SX12.

And does anyone know of home depot cuts wood for you?What items do i need to put it together?I have all the tools, but like glue,nails,so on. Do i need a double baffle?

i wouldnt let home depot cut it for you.

cut it yourself. borrow a friends table saw.

bracing wouldnt hurt.

yea homedepot cuts them. they do a nice job when they get it right. so far though, they have always screwed up at least once. either they cut 1 peice 1/2" short, or they only cut 1 piece of a certain size when i needed 2. so im usually stuck cuttin the rest of the wood that i paid for at home. but yea they make pretty accurate cuts when you have an experienced guy cutting, keep in mind a lot of the younger less experienced ones can easiliy to be called to assist you. and depending on your port walls, if they are long enough, in a small box like that they will act as braces themselves.

Nails could work. Screws just seem to be easier.

I can build a box and use clamps to hold it together while it dries and it'll be just as strong as your box with screws.

nails would only work if they are sawtooth nails and with glue like u used cuz i tried using nails on a single 12" box and as soon as it hit a few bass notes the box just blew apart.

Glue and clamp will be strong. Screws are preferred though as they sort of "clamp" for you. In a properly glued and clamped joint, the wood will break before the glue joint will.

I would go to a cabinet shop before I would let a mass merchandiser cut the wood. You can usually get a local cabinet shop to make your cuts for you and they will be dead on. Pretty cheap too, as it should be cheaper than the cost of one bad cut. They are generally more familiar with box building than most of your Home Depot/Lowes employees.

Nails are fine if your carful. I used finish nails on mine and used a lot of them. Never had a problem, just lots of nails and lots of glue and your good. You shouldn't need bracing, my box is around 3.7 and shows no sign of needing any type of bracing so you should be good.
