Boston SPG55 - Replacement VC?

So I just read this article - PASMAG | PERFORMANCE AUTO AND SOUND - Boston Acoustics SPG555 Subwoofer

It shows that the vc can be replaced by just unscrewing it. I love the design, and wish they hadn't patented it so that other company's would follow suit as well. HOWEVER - how the fuck do the leads run to the terminals from the coil? If you just drop the bitch in and screw it down, how do the tinsel leads and the vc get connected? I'm guessing that the wires from the vc are ran through the sides of the dustcap as well as the tinsel leads to the cone, so they press together when the replacement sits in there. But still, that doesn't seem especially reliable...

Help a brotha out? It's probably a stupid solution that I didn't think of...

I've thought of that too, my guess is you'll still have to unmount the sub then screw or solder the leads to the terminals. The solo-X is a little different since the whole replacement cone comes in a basket.
Nope! You just bolt it in. I saw a video, no hassle with the leads.

Seems that there are just contacts on the top of the coil and contacts on the inside of the cone and when you twist the coil in, these contacts line up. The contact on the cone side would have the leads running to the terminals. I am just speculating but that would make sense.

It's magic, motherfucker. Stop trying to explain it...

That makes sense, HOWEVER...you can mount the dustcap vertical or horizontal, depending on how you mount the sub...Maybe they use two contact points? I dunno...
