Boston pro's or ID oem

why do you say that? many people run them higher than 2k or 2.5k.
I'm not trying to dump on id mids at all, I say he should try active with the

pro 60's he has first.

If it sounded that way I apologize. I would be interested to read a full

review of the id oem mids crossed over at 3.5k.

PRO's have no midbass at high volumes without breakup

Put the crack pipe down.

I run my Pro 60s active, with 300 watts each to the mids. They get LOUD and never complain. I normally have them crossed over at around 90hz (I'm not in my vehcile right now to be able to tell you the exact crossover point). But right now I am waiting for my new sub amps and am rolling around without a sub stage, so I've got them crossed over at 63 hz. I was worried that I would have to be really cautious with the volume knob, but they have surprised me with how much power they can handle, even at lower frequencies. I'm geting plenty of midbass. It sounds amazing.

Maybe it's your amps. Maybe it's your install. Maybe it's your tuning. It's not the Bostons causing your lack of midbass. If yours are breaking up at high volumes, you are probably clipping the signal or just sending them garbage (maybe from your head unit or amp, or the source material).

I'm talkin about the highpass on the mids. I'm running them on a kicker 550.2 and if I cross them below 90hz they ****. I deadened/sealed the crap outta my doors and sealed the mids good...not sure whats up.
Clean power is key. They will handle it. Mine are getting gobs of power and they never complain. Then again, I run mine active. It could be the passive crossovers that are causing the bottleneck.

Run them active and watch them come to life! Just be really careful with the tweets. I have mine crossed over at 3400 hz (I believe) with a 31 db slope. I'm feeding them about 100 watts each, and that's way more than enough.

With 300 each to the mids, it really gets them moving and the midbass is exceptional.

I never ran this set passively, so I can't really say for sure if that's the difference, but I bet it is.

Kenwood ddx812 through a kicker 550.2, the boston mids just don't hang down low (maybe with rated power they would). If I crossed them around 60 they'd eat it. I have thought about doing that though, then I'd be forced to get some different mids.

Ok, in my truck now. I've got my mids HPF at 50 hz and LPF at 3400 hz, both 30 db slope. I'm cranking deftones. Sounds awesome. Insanely loud, very clear. No smell. No audible distortion. A solid 300w to the mids, active. Are you using your passive crossovers? That's gotta be it.

Jammin outkast now. These things always impress. Not sure how long I could run them like this, but with subs I set the bostons at 71 or 80 hz anyway.
