yeah yeah, just asked outta curiosity.

They're there for over powering protection, just like the inline fuses are for your amp. They do add a small amount of resistance but it's not really going to hurt performance.

I don't even know what the hell your statement means. How would looking at FI or RE answer his question?

SureSet: The speaker terminals are equipped with two 7.5-amp ATC fuses for selecting between series or parallel voice-coil operation. When both fuses are used, the woofer is configured for parallel operation, and the woofer's impedance is 2 ohms. When one fuse is used in the center slots, the woofer is configured for series operation, and the woofer's impedance is 8 ohms. There is no need to change the position of the speaker wire in order to switch between parallel and series wiring. The fuses also provide voice coil protection under transient conditions such as accidental momentary overdrive. Use of the standard automotive style fuses allows you to quickly service the woofer in case a fuse is blown during usage. Note: The fuses do not protect against voice-coil failure resulting from long term high power abuse.
