I just got a set of z5's. What is the best amp I can get to power them? I am looking for the best sound quality. Speakers are rated 400 rms per side.

Yea I want to take them to the max. And anyone that has a great amp they want to let go of would be great. Rite now I am kinda interested in the zapco z-150.4 specs at 450x 2

I just meant that I prefer getting an amp that has the same rms rating as the speakers. I don't have any amps with that kind of power range at the moment.

What's your point? You think nobody else has ever looked for a 2-channel amp with the same power you want? At the very least you should look over a few websites (woofersetc, ssa, and so forth), pick out a handful that look promising, and then ask for opinions. It's kind of presumptuous of you to expect folks to comb through a bunch of sites for you to suggest something. You'll get more help here if you at least make a bit of effort.

What's your budget? There are definitely amps out there, but 400 actual watts per channel at 4 ohms is going to be kind of pricey. Personally, I don't think you need anywhere near that much. Half of that will be more than enough (My fronts are getting about 60w per side, and they're plenty loud).
If you really want to max them out, your cheapest option is going to be to grab a 4 channel and bridge it. There are plenty of quality amps out there that put out 75-100w x 4 at 4 ohms, which translates to 3-400w x 2 at 4 ohms bridged.

On another note the two amps I'm looking at now are the zapco z-150.4 and the focal fps 4160. I have a set of focal k2 160 in the back that I run a focal 2.160 now and that sounds great.

I'm currently running a Memphis ST3004 and have had other Memphis amps in the past. Never had a problem, and they've always put out nice clean power. The Memphis 16-MC4.125 is in the same price and power range as the ZED. That's if you're looking to buy new.

My mids are getting half of their rated power handling and my tweets get 1/4 of rated. If your Hafler can do 74 x 4 at 4, I'm sure it can do at least 200 x 2 at 4. I would give that a try first, then see if you want to buy a new amp. I don't think you can go wrong with a Zapco. Anyway what has always been my biggest problem is patience (or lack there of) my z5's are coming in sometime this week and both my hafler ma4's are being mailed to the repair shop tomorrow ( don't know how long it will take to repair them). So I'm not sure if I will wait til there back.

I looked at the zed (it's not a brand I have been familiar with but I have been out of it for awhile) is it a class d amp?

Doesn't hurt that it looks **** either.

I think I'm going to go with a zapco c2k 4.0. The zed sounds good but I don't think I would want to run my z5's on a class d amp.
