Boston Acoustics Pro60

as say what said...they are power hungry speakers for sure. i have 300w a piece on mine and they've been taking it for as long as ive had them, everyday, maxed out.
i will say this. ive READ that most of the power is lost through the xover. supposedly the speakers are pretty average in efficiency, its just you need all the extra power because of the xover. how true is this? i dont know. but again, supposedly running them active GREATLY reduces the amount of power you need to the speakers.
I run mine active. The mids are 3 ohm and are getting about 225w each right now, and they have never missed a beat. The tweets are 8 ohm and are only getting about 40 watts each, and they scream. I'm not sure how much power is lost running them through the passive crossovers, but I do know that gobs of power can fry lesser crossovers, so it's a testament to their crossover design that you can even power them that way.

I recently purchased one of the new JL HD amps, the 600/4, so within the next week or so, I'll be sending the mids a solid 300w each actively.

I am thrilled with the performance of these Pro60s. I've been jamming them hard for almost two years now with no problems. They get very loud and sound great doing it.

Definitely! Providing that you'll be send these sufficient power you won't be disappointed with the Pro's.

I purchased a set of the Z6's a couple of months back, yes very expensive, but worth every penny //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm assuming that you will be running the JL HD with the crossovers?

Do you think they will be able to handle 300w's? Should be interesting..

the gt 24 gives them plenty of power, but then again my buddy has a gt 28, i guess he wanted even more head room. they are amazing imo, i just love the clearity at high volumes, but they sound amazing with any type of music. you cant really go wrong with boston.

No way. I run mine active. The 600/4 is for the mids only. I will not be changing anything with the tweets for now, and they run off of two channels of my 300/4.

We'll see. And if need be, I can set the crossover (on my H701) for the mids at a higher frequency. They've handled 225-ish playing 71 hz and up for a while now with no problems.
