boston acoustics install suggestions

i am trying to install a descent stereo in my wifes 96 lexus es300,, i am trying to install in sections to get the optimal use out of the equipment for each area, then later on when i am through with all areas, i will try my best to make it hopfully make it all come together, so here goes: the hu is clarion vrx935vd touch screen dvd player, a so far i have put a set of boston acoustics proseries 5.4 for the fronts stage, then i have a old sony xe-744 dsp eq just to try it out, then it goes to a ppi frx456 crossover, then to the front stage amp which is a ppi a404(4x50w@ 4ohm/4x100 2ohms), then form the crossover to the sub=out to a mtx 1501d amp hookup to a single mtx9500 in a ported box. after hearing with what it had it sounded okay, but the tweeters were not like smooth silk sounding, do they need some mylar caps (1k) also instead of the ppi frx456 active xrossover, should i try using the boston acoutics passive xrossever that came with the set? should i mono the a404 to use 2x200 and use the passive? pls remember i am just starting to play with her car and want to make it sound descent, could you guys offer some suggestions?

i have some equipment to swap around, and if finally if this does not come out descent sounding, i have all audiocontrol equipment on stand-by if need be, like 6xs, 2 eqt's and eqs, epicenter, and line driver, which i was saving for my car.
