Dude, my first system was two sets of Bazooka coax (6.5 and 6x9) and an Aiwa deck. In a Ford Probe. Looking back, I don't know what I was thinking.
But that's not my first real experience...
When I got into it for real, I was living in South Carolina and had a 99 Jetta. I put an Alpine 5-channel in there with an Alpine deck, Alpine S-type coax in the front and Infinity reference coax on the rear deck with a Reference 12" sub in a prefab sealed box. Safe to say the sub didn't last long and swapped that for a 12w3, the amp for a 300/4 and 500/1, and the speakers for TR components in the front and JBL GTO comps on the rear deck.
Safe to say I caught the upgrade bug, but my Jetta was starting to die off, so I traded that car for a 2004 Saturn Ion Redline and swapped my system over minus the HU. Deadened all the doors and trunk, replaced the front comps with Rainbow SLC comps and rear deck with Rainbow coax.
Now I own a 2006 Passat and have only managed to get to replacing the HU after more than 6 years of ownership. But the bug has bit again so we'll see what happens now.
