anyone into boating here? ive been thinking about buying my first boat. i was thinking about trying to find something like a early 90's Bayliner or something along those lines.it will be mainly used for just cruising around pulling the occasional tube. not real sure if i want a inboard or outboard yet. what are the pro;s and cons of each. id like to do a minumum of 30 so i can atleast have some speed. what size motor am i looking for to do that. what do i look for when looking at a used boat. any help will be appreciated. oh yeah i dont really want to spend more than $4000 this year unless i wait till next year then i might bump the price up to $6000

i have a 16ft actioncraft falts boat with a 200hp on the back only rated for a 90 but the weight difference is only about 100 lbs and it can handle the weight it just cant handle the torque so i cant full throtle when i get up out of the hole and get on plane, but of course i dont need full throttle haha

but after i get up which doesnt take long at full throttle trimmed out on the gps doing right around 80mph it only weighs 850lbs the boat itself and the engine is around 475 so total weight is only 1325 so not much weight, hell rangers that are 21ft that weigh around 2klbs boat only do around 65-70

when i first had it with a 90 it only did around 45 then i put a 115 on it and it did about 52 or so but its a fast boat and will run in about 4 inches of water haha great for tubing cant run at full throttle unless i want to kill someone lol

ive got a 17ft boston whaler with a 90HP on it. it gets up to the high 30's, which is perfect IMO.

all i use it for really is just tubing or taking random trips to the beachs and waht not. its fun to hang out on especially during the summer if you bring some friends and just set up a BBQ or something on the beach.

nows probably the best time to buy because its the end of boating season. around here people sell wave runners and newer boats after 1 season of use and then just pick up something new next year. now or withing the next few months is when you'll get your best prices.

Bayliner's are garbage. They're made with wood, and they rot out.

Look for a use Sea Chaser bay rider.

I have a 20' flats boat with a 250 Yamaha Vmax outboard. Shiit flies, at about 70mph.

i just bought a pontoon boat for a dollar to rehab next summer with my brother but sold my canoe. I had a canoe that was perfect for the forest preserves around where i live the rules are no gas motors so my canoe and a trolling motor was as fast as you could fish. My uncles bad as ranger does 84 mph with one person in it and low on gas, get you to the fishing hole FAST. I am looking at a little fishing boat next week thats is about 15 years old and hasn't run in 7. I might get that for 300.

hate to tell you that ranger wont do 84mph unless it has a way over the rated max hp because rangers weigh alot and top end is about 65-70 75 tops if u r one person low gas no waves and a bigger motor than recommend

dont believe the speedo in the boats meausre it with gps or a radar i know wat mine does i got pulled over in a 25mph doing 78mph and it will full throttle with me and a friend of mine and 2 girls and i didnt have it trimmed out so by myself with low gas and calm day i can do 82-85mph its scary i dont like doing it i usually run at half throttle unless i am getting in out of a storm or needing to get somewhere in a hurry at full throttle u have to wear glasses or you cant see at night i wear clear glasses

225 hp 21-22 ft i think and that is the fastest we got it 2 people and gear gets 78 tops. That is on lakes with almost glass water if it is glass it makes it slower a little bit of wind waves is perfect. It is a pretty heavy boat and i was surprised we broke 80 but it did. on lake geneva it never gets going that fast because of the heavy waves but still cruises. Bubba Smith, that is his real name , from woodruff Wi had the fastest skeeter i dont know what speed it would do but that hillbilly's fishing boat was fast. He he was a crazy tournament fishing guide.

speedo on boat but last time he got pulled over for over 35 it was accurate he was going 50 and clocked at 50 so if it is off at higher speed it is i dont know or care. just was fast when i was in it.

I am not posting again about the speed because your retarded *** will just keep going on and on and on and on and on and on the the little bunny that don't shut up. boating is fun why do you have to be argumentative about it cant you just go hit your dog?

i had a 19.5ft regal sebring

it was a cuddy so a little heavy but the 4.3 got it up around 34mph

it it was an runabout or something like that i would have seen 45-50 for sure

whenever i get some income i want to get another one but will probably be a 25ft this time.

doubt it will be a cuddy this time though although they are nice to have

stay away from bayliner if at all possible

you may have to look at mid 1980's possibly early 90's but its worth it.

we have a 1999 or 2000 cant remember but its an 18.5 foot Larson LXi something lol. its a really nice boat for cruising/tubing or whatever. we have the 4.3 V6 Volvo but you could get the V8 too. we are happy with it.

and you should get either an inboard or an I/O. outboard FTL in a boat that you plan on swimming / tubing off of.

stay away from bayliner. they are equivalent to a daewoo.

i have a 27' chris-craft scorpion, twin 5.7L. Does mid 60's which is good enough for me. A friend has a 42' Fountain, twin 1200HP turbo diesels, boat does just over 100 on a calm day(not too many one Lake Erie)
