just clamped mine. its starving for juice without my extra alt but it still did 2000 easy at 12v and 2400 probably clipped a little. runs about average temp for dissipating 2k and being starved for input voltage. I dont let it go below 12

The torriods or coils whatever are smaller in real life than they look. But still decent amp. I cant wait to get decent electrical to this and another one. Sold ab vfl 200.1 for 475 = buy two dscs for almost the same price!

I would not reccomend .5 daily unless you have a really good or HO alt.
