What makes you think that? I got my buddies bass knob from his ZX amp and been using it with my kx2500 just fine.

And I dont think kx series is considered old school just yet...lol

i read some where that one has a 6 pin connector and one has a 5 pin. i know for A FACT IT DOESNT WORK ON KX AMPS BECAUSE IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE THE SAME SIZE PLUG. and my wife has a kx amp and i tried it. mine is from a SX ,i bet you your *** it won't work on your KX!!!

Then it wont work on a zx amp then. Bc I bet your *** that I am using a zx bass knob on my KX!!!

Are you sure your not talking about KS instead of KX because the KS series is old school and I figure it prolly does have a different size plug.
