Well, had it sitting on the shelf for a while, and finally cracked it open. It's going into protect, then flickers into power, then back into protect, constant cycle. Buddy of mine gave it to me. Bass knob=blown amp
So, I snapped some pics of the internals. Are the circled, and close up pics the reason? Don't know anything about amp guts, but they look like they blew. Wording is gone off of them, like they melted or something. The top two I have circled are the main ones i'm talking about, but the third on the bottom left looks a little suspect, not quite clear to read the letters on top. Started to melt/blow maybe.
Any idea on repair cost? I was told ~$60 by DBR a LONG while back, but I didn't have any pics of the board, only the symptoms.
Would I be able to pick up these parts somewhere, and try myself? I'm no newb to soldering, just done larger stuff than this. Could find a scrap computer board to practice on. I'd really like to try it on my own if these pieces are obtainable, figure I can't hurt it any worse. I would stop if I felt I was doing it wrong, and send it in.
thanks, pics:
